OVERVIEW
The Lake Titicaca were turned as the home of a population that struggled and adapted to the weather condition of the lake, earning them the nickname of “children of the lake”. Currently, are one of the oldest populations in the Peruvian plateau.
The island of Amantani, located at 3,817 meters above sea level, is characterized by the presence of the ceremonial centers "Pachamama" (dedicated to the female gender) and "Pachatata" (dedicated to the male gender), which are still used by the population to perform ancestral ceremonies. on important dates, as well as to thank Mother Earth for the products they grow. In the same way, the population continues to put into practice the knowledge bequeathed by their ancestors, which is observed in the use of terraces for agricultural activity.
Taquile Island stands out from others thanks to the expression of the way of its life on textile art, which gives textiles a high cultural value and makes it a reason for worldwide recognition.
HOMESTAY UROS - AMANTANI - TAQUILE 2D-1N.
On this trip you will be able to experience the living culture practiced on the islands of the incredible Lake Titicaca.
DAY 1:To start this tour, our team will transfer our passengers from their hotels (only city center) between 7:40 a.m. - 8:00 a.m., to the port of the city to board a boat with course to the floating islands of Uros. At the arrive, you will observe a demonstration on the techniques used by the population for the use of totora, fishing and harvest.
Later we will go to Amantani Island, where the families will give us a warm welcome and take us to the lodging-house where we will spend the night. There, we will taste a delicious typical lunch prepared with local products by the family.
In the afternoon, approximately at 15:00 p.m., we will start a walk to visit the "Pachatata" ceremonial center (in the Apu Coanos), from where we will have a privileged view of the Holy Lake, the Andean Mountain and the peninsulas, while we enjoy an ethereal sunset. After appreciating this spectacle of nature, we will return to our lodging-house to have dinner and rest.
At night, if you wish, you can attend to the “peña show” which is organized by the families of the island to be part of a cultural exchange in a friendly ambiance at rhythms of Andean dances and music.
DAY 2: Early in the morning after breakfast in the company of the host family we will continue the trip, this time towards the island of Taquile. At the arrive, we will begin a hike in direction to the main part of the island, where you will be able to appreciate the symbolic crafts and textiles.
The importance of its textile art is found on the symbology present in each textile, which expresses the culture of the population.
Next, you will enjoy a delicious typical lunch in a local restaurant. Finally, we will return to the city of Puno around 15:30 p.m.
